چکیده

This paper studies algebras arising as algebraic semantics for logics used to model reasoning with incomplete or inconsistent information. In particular we study, in a uniform way, varieties of bilattices equipped with additional logic-related operations and their product representations. Our principal result is a very general product representation theorem. Specifically, we present a syntactic procedure (called duplication) for building a product algebra out of a given base algebra and a given set of terms. The procedure lifts functorially to the generated varieties and leads, under specified sufficient conditions, to a categorical equivalence between these varieties. When these conditions are satisfied, a very tight algebraic relationship exists between the base variety and the enriched variety. Moreover varieties arising as duplicates of a common base variety are automatically categorically equivalent to each other. Two further product representation constructions are also presented; these are in the same spirit as our main theorem and extend the scope of our analysis. Our catalogue of applications selects varieties for which product representations have previously been obtained one by one, or which are new. We also reveal that certain varieties arising from the modelling of quite different operations are categorically equivalent. Among the range of examples presented, we draw attention in particular to our systematic treatment of trilattices.

Natural Dualities Through Product Representations: Bilattices and Beyond

This paper focuses on natural dualities for varieties of bilatticebased algebras. Such varieties have been widely studied as semantic models in situations where information is incomplete or inconsistent. The most popular tool for studying bilattices-based algebras is product representation. The authors recently set up a widely applicable algebraic framework which enabled product representations...

On tensor product $L$-functions and Langlands functoriality

‎In the spirit of the Langlands proposal on  Beyond Endoscopy ‎we discuss the explicit relation between the Langlands functorial transfers and automorphic $L$-functions‎. ‎It is well-known that the poles of the $L$-functions have deep impact to the Langlands functoriality‎. ‎Our discussion also‎ ‎includes the meaning of the central value of the tensor product $L$-functions in terms of the Langl...

Preference Modeling by Rectangular Bilattices

Many realistic decision aid problems are fraught with facets of ambiguity, uncertainty and conflict, which hamper the effectiveness of conventional and fuzzy preference modeling approaches, and command the use of more expressive representations. In the past, some authors have already identified Ginsberg’s/Fitting’s theory of bilattices as a naturally attractive candidate framework for represent...

Logical Bilattices and Inconsistent Data

The notion of a bilattice was rst proposed by Ginsberg as a general framework for many applications. This notion was further investigated and applied for various goals by Fitting. In the present paper we develop proof systems, which correspond to bilattices in an essential way. We then show how to use those bilattices for ef-cient inferences from possibly inconsistent data. For this we incorpor...

Product representation for default bilattices: an application of natural duality theory

Bilattices (that is, sets with two lattice structures) provide an algebraic tool to model simultaneously the validity of, and knowledge about, sentences in an appropriate language. In particular, certain bilattices have been used to model situations in which information is prioritised and so can be viewed hierarchically. These default bilattices are not interlaced: the lattice operations of one...
